Repair vs. Replace

Should You Repair or Replace Your Roof?

A chart to help you determine if your roof needs to be replacedThis chart will give you guidance when trying to decide to repair or replace your roof. The indicators contained will give you a good starting point, and we are happy to help you should you have any questions.

How to Score:

Simply answer the questions and add up the total number of points assigned to the answers you selected. If your score totals less than 7 points, a repair may make good sense. A score of 8 or higher indicates that a replacement may need to be considered.

Did you Know?

According the NRCA (National Roofing Contractors Association), your roof should be inspected every two years. If you are going to do the inspection yourself, remember these important safety tips:

  • Inspect your ladder thoroughly before you use it and be sure it is on a solid sturdy surface
  • Always use two hands when climbing the ladder and be sure to have someone there with you to help with securing your ladder
  • Once on the roof be sure to walk very gently and be sure to note any curling or loss of granules, chimney or vent areas that look impaired, and flashing or trim areas that seem to be decaying.
